I help managers lead without losing themselves in the process. The work starts where performance ends. When the skills that earned the promotion aren't the skills the new role requires.
I've spent my career at the intersection of people and performance, working in organizations where the gap between being good at your job and being effective at leading people is wide and rarely talked about. I watched that gap swallow talented, motivated people who never received the preparation they deserved.
Early on I was on the receiving end of it myself. The most technically skilled people were often the least equipped to lead, because the skills that earned the promotion weren't the skills the new role required. The promotion is a reward for past performance. But it's a bet on a completely different future skill set.
I believe most leadership development is solving the wrong problem. It teaches managers to perform, project authority, follow the playbook, execute the framework. But performance without authenticity is exhausting. It doesn't build teams that trust you.
Real leadership is earned through consistency, honest communication, and genuine care for the people you're responsible for. The Grounded Approach™, built on clarity, authenticity, and sustainability, gives managers a framework they can stand on, not a character to play. I'm not in the business of giving people a new persona. I'm in the business of helping them become more fully themselves.
Today I work with individual managers through 1:1 coaching, with leadership teams through group programs, and with organizations through workshops and training. The common thread: helping people lead with more clarity, more authenticity, and more staying power.
The Approach
"Leadership isn't a performance. It's a practice, one that works only when it's rooted in who you actually are."
Three principles. One foundation.
The Grounded Approach™ gives new managers a framework they can stand on, three interlocking principles that reinforce each other in practice.
Clarity
Know what's expected. Communicate it cleanly. Remove ambiguity before it becomes anxiety for you and your team.
Authenticity
Stop performing authority. Build trust through honest communication, genuine vulnerability, and consistent follow-through.
Sustainability
Set boundaries that hold. Delegate with intention. Build a leadership rhythm that energizes instead of depletes.
